Undergraduate Research Experience at the Boyce Thompson Institute (BTI), Cornell University and the USDA provide an excellent opportunity to learn valuable research skills and explore if a scientific career is right for you. Currently we offer opportunities to students interested in plant genome research, bioinformatics, plant genetics, plant molecular biology, biotechnology, biological engineering, digital agriculture, plant defense, and biochemistry. Our 2023 Research Experience opportunities for Undergraduates are funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

This single application encompasses projects spanning Plant Genome Research, Bioinformatics, Programmable Plant Systems, and Innovative Agricultural Technologies.

The 2023 summer program is anticipated to begin Monday, June 5 and end Friday, August 11, 2023, lasting ten weeks. Selected undergraduate students will be provided a $6,000 stipend, $850 meal stipend, free group housing, and up to $500 travel reimbursement.

While we are currently recruiting for an in-person program in Ithaca, New York. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents to apply.

Selected students will be required to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 before June 5th, 2023, or obtain a university-approved medical or religious exemption.
